As the Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to our website.
Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), which was established in 1970, is one of the members of Thai Nguyen University. For 47 years of establishment and development, TUAF has been recognized as the center for training, scientific research and technology transfer in agriculture, forestry, environmental and resource management, and rural development in the midland and northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam. Now, we have established and expanded our cooperation in research and training with more than 100 advanced institutions, as well as government and non-government organizations all over the World.
Our mission is to provide higher education, conduct research and technology transfer in the fields of agriculture, forestry, rural development, environmental and natural resource management to contribute to the socio-economic development in the midland and northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam.
For the forthcoming periods, we are committed at producing a workforce of qualified knowledge, ethics and practicing capability in the fields of agriculture, forestry, rural development, environmental and natural resource management to meet the demands of serving the socio-economic development of the midland and northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam.
At present, TUAF is composed of more than 620 staffs, with 322 teaching staffs in which more than 100 are holders of doctorate degrees (07 Professors and 29 Associate Professors), the remaining teaching staff are masters degree holders. By 2017, we hope that the number of staff with doctorate degree holders would account for more than 35%, and more than15% Professors and Associate Professors.
Annually, we offer admissions to more than 3000 students to 24 undergraduate programs and irregular (learning-by-doing) courses and about 500 students enrolled to 9 master’s and 8 doctoral programs. Since the past academic year of 2010-2011, we have started offering an Advanced Education Program for Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Managemetn adapted from the University of California-Davis (US). For the time being, we have an enrollment of more than 14000 undergraduate and more than 1000 graduate students. Based on records, we have provided the country with 33.000 engineers, bachelors and more than 1500 qualified masters and doctorate degree holders and thousands of skilful local staff in the fields of agriculture and forestry.
Our main campus covers a land area of 102,8 ha characterized with a picturesque landscape with more than 100 modern classrooms intended for learning and teaching and research activities. TUAF has a Laboratory System with state-of-art equipment; internship & practice models which meet the requirement for placement, practicing and researching activities of our staff, undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, TUAF has a Forestry Research Center in Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang province with an area of 138 ha and Research Center for Temperate Plant in Phia Den, Nguyen Binh District, Cao Bang Province with an area of 19 ha in order to serve the research activities of staff and students. The recreation area includes football grounds, gym, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts which fully ensure to meet the amusement requirements of students.
For 45 years of growth and development, TUAF is highly honored to receive a number of dignified awards and titles such as Labour Hero title in the renovation (2013), Third Class Independent Medal (2004); First Class Labor Medal (1995, 2015); Second Class Labor Medal (1985); Third Class Labor Medal (1980). A number of departments / units and staff were awarded Labor Medal, Merit Certificate of Prime Minister, Ministry of Education and Training, Labor Hero – People’s Teacher Title (01), and Teacher of Excellent Award (10).
With pride and honor of our tradition and spirit, our present staff, teachers and students are determined to strive hard and meet the challenges to successfully implement our strategic goals and missions to continue turning the traditional golden pages that the previous leaders and generations have started.
In the context of integration, we wish to implement more cooperation in the field of training, scientific research and technology transfers in agriculture, forestry, resource management, environment and rural development.
